This semiprecious stone was discovered in 1974 in the South West of the country, in the Barahona region. Its name is a contraction of the name Larissa (one of the discoverers' daughter's name) and "mar" recalling the Caribbean Sea, visible from the mine.
Larimar is a mineral also called "blue pectolite", which belongs to the family of silicates quartzs whose hardness is 5/10 (Mohs scale), it is difficult as diamond to sculpt.
The quality of the stone is assessed to its color: the more the stone is deep plus, the more valuable it is. You can sometimes find a red color, it shows traces of iron. The white color on it represents the quartz stone.
The effects of the stone, on a psyche level, transmit positive and restorative energies. It therefore allows the soul to flourish and has positive attitude everyday.
